KĪNURA MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Kīnura Music Festival, launched in 2018, was created with the goal of bringing our youth together in a family-friendly, smoke-free, and alcohol-free environment, providing a safe space for connection and creativity. Originally envisioned as a non-denominational gathering, the event has evolved over the years into a vibrant platform showcasing the incredible talent of our local youth.

Why? Empowering Youth Through Music and Community

In recent years, we’ve seen a growing disconnect between our Cook Islands youth and their communities. Increasing rates of alcohol and drug use, partying, and drink driving reflect a deeper issue — our young people are searching for meaning, identity, and belonging in the wrong places. In 2018, we envisioned something different — a movement that would offer our youth an alternative path. The Kīnura Music Festival was born out of the desire to create a safe, vibrant, and inspiring space where young people could come together, celebrate their talents, and connect with something greater than the party scene.

We believe our youth are incredibly gifted. Through music, performance, and cultural expression, we give them the platform to shine. We’ve seen that what you put on stage becomes a reflection of what you attract — and when young people see their peers stepping up, sharing their gifts, and being celebrated, they are naturally drawn in. Kīnura is more than a music festival — it’s a space of hope, belonging, and positive transformation. It’s our way of saying: There is more. You are more.
